Mahopac, New York

Mahopac is a hamlet in the Town of Carmel in Putnam County. It is approximately 5.3 square miles, 47 miles north of New York City. Mahopac was originally inhabited by the Wappinger Native Americans, part of the Algonquin tribe. During the Revolutionary War, Mahopac had an important role as a crossroads for troops in nearby Patterson, Yorktown and West Point.

The hamlet of Mahopac grew after the incorporation of Putnam County in 1812. In the mid 1800s Mahopac was a popular summer resort. The New York Central Railroad would carry NYC residents to Croton Falls, where they would then be transported to Mahopac by horse-drawn carriage. Mahopac became more of a year-round location once the Taconic and Saw Mill River parkways were extended.

Types of Personal Injury Cases

While Mahopac is a beautiful and safe place to live and work, injuries and accidents can happen anywhere, including in this hamlet. When injuries happen, personal injury law can help survivors secure the compensation they need to address pain and suffering, medical bills, and more.

Personal injury law allows you to file a claim in the event that your injuries were caused by someone’s negligence. If you’ve been injured and it wasn’t your fault, you may be entitled to compensation that can help you pay for the costs of your injury.

Personal injury cases often arise from:

  • Car accidents and other traffic accidents caused by a preventable situation, such as a reckless driver, distracted driving, or poor road conditions.
  • Slip and fall accidents caused by hazardous conditions such as wet floors, uneven pavement, or poor lighting.
  • Medical malpractice
  • Defective or dangerous products.
  • Workplace injuries.
  • Construction accidents.
  • Assault and battery.
  • Nursing home abuse and neglect.
  • Pedestrian accidents.

In any situation where you have been injured due to someone’s negligence, it is valuable to speak to a Mahopac personal injury lawyer who can explain whether you may have a claim. At The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel, our team has handled cases like the ones above, as well as many others, including commercial trucking accidents.

Many personal injury cases happen when an individual is injured, but in some cases you may be able to file a claim when someone else is injured. For example, if your minor child is injured you may be able to file a claim on behalf of your child. In cases of nursing home abuse and neglect, the elderly resident may not be able to file a claim on their own. In these cases, it is often family members who contact a lawyer. In addition, if you lose a loved one in a car accident or another situation caused by someone’s negligence, you may have a wrongful death claim, and you may be able to seek compensation for pain and suffering, final medical bills, financial support your loved one offered, funeral and burial costs, and more. While you are grieving, a loss can also impact your finances and seeking full compensation is important as you work to heal.

Whether you’ve been injured in a car accident, by a defective product, or due to medical malpractice, The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel can help you understand your options and may be able to fight for the compensation you deserve.

Types of Criminal Defense Cases in Mahopac

When you’re accused of a crime, a criminal defense attorney is essential to protect your rights. Criminal cases vary widely in terms of the nature of the alleged crime, the severity of the charges, and the potential penalties. Below are some of the most common types of criminal defense cases that the team at The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel can help with:

  • DWI (Driving While Intoxicated).
  • Drug-related charges, from possession to trafficking large quantities of controlled substances.
  • Theft and property crimes, including burglary, larceny, robbery, and shoplifting.
  • Assault and violent crimes, including assault, aggravated assault, domestic violence, battery, and even homicide.
  • Sex crimes, such as sexual assault, rape, child pornography, and prostitution.
  • White-collar crimes involving fraud, embezzlement, financial misrepresentation, and other crimes.
  • Weapons and firearms charges.
  • Driving offenses, including hit and run or driving with a suspended license.
  • Federal charges, such as drug trafficking, bank robbery, tax fraud, and wire fraud.

If you’re facing any of the above criminal charges or any criminal charges, don’t try to defend yourself. Remember that law enforcement is interested in solving crimes quickly, and they are often working with limited resources. They can make mistakes.

At The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel, we create a strategy that addresses your charges, the evidence, and your needs. We may be able to reduce the charges, for example from a DWI to a DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired). In other cases, we may be able to seek to dismiss charges or seek alternative sentencing. In an initial consultation, we’ll discuss what is possible and what would be the best possible outcome for you.

The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel has decades of experience, with our founder practicing law since 1986 and many members of our team also having decades of legal experience. Whether your case involves a misdemeanor or felony charge, we are prepared to provide aggressive representation to help you achieve the best possible outcome. Since we also provide personal injury representation, we can also help you fight back if you have been the victim of police misconduct during an arrest or during any interaction with law enforcement.

It’s important to consult with a defense attorney as soon as you have been arrested or charged. Even if you are being investigated, it’s worthwhile to reach out to The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel to discuss a possible strategy. You will certainly want representation before you sign anything or before you speak with police or are questioned by law enforcement. The sooner you are represented, the sooner your lawyer can protect you from making a seemingly-innocent statement that could negatively impact your future freedom.

Whether you have been injured or have been accused of committing a crime, The Law Office of Mark A. Siesel helps individuals like you. Our team stands out for our decades of experience and our selective, careful approach to every case. We are careful about the cases we take on, so we can be sure we can dedicate plenty of time to your case.
